Nova v1.4.8
More of your library, right where you play. Nova 1.4.8 is matched with Polaris 1.4.8, bringing a familiar game library to Spaces, more frame-rate choices and controller settings that fit each game.
Your Space, Your Library
- Browse game posters in your selected Space, or open Steam Big Picture to sign in and choose a game.
- Your Space sits with the library controls: beside the host name in landscape, on its own row under the header in portrait, with its status and Change Space next to it.
- Every Space status reads the same everywhere, in Nova and in the Polaris console: Ready, Starting, Playing, In use, Stopping, Unavailable, and Status unknown while a check is failing. The chooser marks your current Space, shows a status chip on each row, and lets you browse a Space that is starting, stopping or in use.
- A device with no Space assigned, or a host that cannot offer its Spaces right now, says so and points at the Spaces page in Polaris instead of showing an empty library.
- Resume a session or leave it with a clear explanation of what will stop.
- Keep touch and controller navigation within reach, including on smaller screens and with larger text.
Play Your Way
- Choose 144, 165 or 240 FPS when your display and host support them.
- Match face buttons by label or position for each game, especially useful when switching between console layouts.
- See the console and emulator alongside supported emulator games in your library.
Less Guesswork, More Playing
- Launch problems now show the host’s explanation and suggested fix instead of a bare error code.
- Play Setup explains why a stream is using SDR and points out when Request HDR is switched off.
- Changing Spaces cancels an unfinished connection check, so a late reply cannot overwrite your new selection.
- A Space that cannot start shows the host’s reason, with Try Again and Back to Library; a tap beside the sheet no longer ends the attempt.
- Nova asks a host about Spaces only when that host has them, waits no more than twelve seconds on a Space check before offering Cancel, and keeps its stars still while a screen covers them or the device is saving power.
- Play Setup checks where a game can play in one pass, offers a Space’s Steam when the game is not installed there, and turns Play into Retry Space Check when a check fails.
Before You Try Spaces
Spaces is an early preview for configured Polaris hosts. The public Docker runtime download is not available yet, and guided setup allows one active Space. Handheld audio remains under investigation. The Spaces Guide explains setup and current limits. Ordinary streaming works as usual.
Higher frame rates are targets, not performance guarantees. Update Polaris and Nova together for the new library and launch guidance.
